The Town of Grimshaw, Mile 0 of the Mackenzie Highway, makes an excellent base from which to plan daily adventures and sightseeing tours. It is minutes away from Lac Cardinal Pioneer Village Museum, the Shaftesbury Trail and Wilderness Park, with Highway 2 running through town and on to the Northwest Territories.

Visitors to Grimshaw should treat themselves to a tour of the Mile Zero Mackenzie Park and Arboretum. There you can learn about the construction of Highway 35, the Mackenzie Highway, and see samples of the many types of trees that make up northern Alberta's Boreal Forests.

The Historic Mile 0 Mackenzie Park and the Tom Baldwin Memorial Arboretum are located at the corner of Highway 2 and 2A and serves as a fully landscaped passive recreational interpretive park reflecting local and regional history.  The interpretive signs situated along the walking path reflect the history of the communities along the Mackenzie Highway.  Another feature included in the park is a cat train with replica sleighs that were used to transport goods to the Northwest Territories between 1939 and 1943 before the Mackenzie Highway was constructed.

The Tom Baldwin Memorial Arboretum was established in memory of Tom Baldwin and provides an educational component to visitors and the local schools to learn about the different species of trees in our Peace Country forests.  The Visitor Information Centre is also located within the park and provides tourists with pertinent information to guide them in their travels or to visit tourist destinations both within and outside of our region.

An outdoor swimming pool in Grimshaw, complete with two diving boards, is the perfect place to cool off on a hot day.  Next door, the youth will find a unique skate and bike park that is a regional sports showpiece.  Two golf courses are situated within minutes of Grimshaw for any avid golfers.

Grimshaw has two hotels, one motel and an RV campground within the town. Grocery, pharmacy, gas stations and plenty of retail stores make Grimshaw both a great historic stop and place to stay while exploring the beautiful Peace Country.
