Alberta Icon Passport launchedThey’re gigantic. They’re amazing. They are not found anywhere else in the world and they areright here in Alberta!The Passport to Alberta’s Community Icons has been recently launched. Twenty four communitiesacross Alberta have signed on with the project to promote the icons located in their communities.The project, spearheaded by Woodlands County, is beinglaunched in partnership with Travel Alberta.“So many people travel outside of the province for vacations,but what they might not know is what they can fi nd right in theirown backyards,” says Jim Rennie, Mayor of Woodlands Countyand one of the creators of the icon passport.“This passport highlights 24 communities which have builtunique icons over the years to attract visitors. Some of the iconsare the largest in the world, some the largest in Canada andsome are just completely unique. But each of the communitieshas more to offer than the chance to see a neat icon. You cancamp, you can hike, you can tour museums – the vacation opportunitiesin these communities is endless,” added Rennie.Travellers who have a passport and vacation to the variouscommunities, can get the passport stamped at the locationsmentioned in the booklet.
