Shaftesbury Trail & Ferry

The Shaftesbury Trail runs along the side of the Peace River for approximately 26 kilometers.  The trail is

fully paved and offers several stops for sight seeing, picnicing, camping and to learn the history of the Peace Country, particularly about the famed explorer Sir Alexander Mackenzie.   The trail can be accessed from Hwy 2 just 4 km south of Grimshaw, turn onto Hwy 684, or from the town of Peace River on the west end of the bridge.

The Shaftesbury Ferry operates from May through the end of October from 7 am to 11 p.m. daily.  There is
no cost to use the ferry, which can transport several vehicles at once, including large RV’s, tractor-trailors
and motorcycles!  It takes approximately 5 minutes to cross the river.   YOUTUBE VIDEO

Tangent Parkcampground is located on the east bank of the river, just across from the Shaftesbury Trail.  It offers full service sites, showers, group camping and horse riding /hiking trails.
