The Shaftesbury boat launch is located at the Shaftesbury ferry crossing approximately 29km southwest of the town of Peace River. Boaters can access the beautiful Peace River at this location on the well -maintained gravel launch. The Strong Creek Park boat launch and the Town of Peace River can be found down stream from this location. Head up the river and you will find the Peace Valley Guest Ranch and Peace River Cabins and Outdoors who welcome guests to stay at their riverside resorts. Explore a bit further up the river and you will see the Elk Island camping area, continue on to experience the awe-inspiring sight of the Dunvegan Bridge. Camping is available in the Shaftsbury area just across the river at Tangent Park.

This cozy, private, 49 site camp ground in the Twin Lakes Provincial Park is located 65 km north of Manning. Twin Lakes Provincial Park is named for the two lakes neighboring one another within the park.  A smaller lake where the camp ground is located and a larger one accessible to visitors on foot.    Campers arriving at the park will see a modern playground located in the central part of the park as well as the self registration area and washrooms nearby.  After settling into a private well treed site, fishing enthusiasts can launch an electric motor boat on to the lake or cast their line from the dock and enjoy fishing for trout!  A modern fish cleaning station makes it easy to prep the day’s catch!  Canoeing, kayaking, paddle boarding as well as swimming will provide hours of enjoyment for campers of all ages!  A small sandy beach on the lake shore offers even more fun!  After a day of exciting activities, absorb the serenity of this beautiful area and the abundant wildlife that make their home here while hiking the walking trail around the first lake to the second lake.  This scenic trail was constructed by a Junior Forest Ranger Crew in 1997 and is approximately 3km in length.  Enjoy all the seasons in this area and experience a beautiful northern winter day in the park while ice fishing!

Nestled alongside the Notikewan River in the town of Manning is the Riverside Campground.  Campers can enjoy a stroll on the neighboring walking path that follows the curves of the river or simply relax and enjoy the bird song amongst the trees.  Families will enjoy the nearby playground as well as the many activities the Notikewan River offers.  This campground offers 9 first come first serve sites with power.  Showers are available and the town of Manning offers a dump station as well as potable water.  Enjoy all this for only $25 a night. 

A short 8km drive from Peace River, along the scenic Shaftsbury Trail will bring you to Strong Creek Park boat launch area. Start your river adventure here or come ashore and take a break -camping spots are free. There are outhouses, water and a sheltered kitchen to make your stop comfortable. The Town of Peace River is down stream from this launch and the Shaftesbury ferry launch site is up stream. The launch is a well-maintained gravel area perfect for launching river boats as well as canoes, kayaks and rafts. Opportunities are endless for adventure on the mighty Peace River.

Visit Elk Island camping area, this site is along side the Peace River downstream from Historic Dunvegan and upstream from the Shaftsbury Ferry. Twelve campsites with fire pits are ready for campers to settle in and relax or get active!  Canoe, kayak, fish, hike or relax around a crackling campfire! Lots of space and a playground are available for kids to enjoy.  Watch for abundant wildlife in this area!

The Lac Cardinal boat launch gives water lovers access to this calm and inviting northern lake.The launch is a well-maintained paved launch. The lake offers endless hours of activity –paddle boarding, canoeing and kayaking to name a few. Tubing, water skiing and wake boarding area is a great way to spend a sunny Peace Country day at this lake. Stay awhile at the camping area and check out the Lac Cardinal Pioneer Village Museum and the North Peace Rodeo grounds which are a short walk away. Located 8km northwest of the Town of Grimshaw on Township Road 833A off Highway 35.

Looking for the ideal setting to kick back and relax?   Try the Clear River Campground!  The campground is tucked in alongside the beautiful Clear River, just 13km Southwest of the Cleardale Store on highway 64.  Enjoy the serenity of the area in one of the river side sites that offer picnic tables, firepits and firewood all for $12 per night.  Self registration available.  Explore the river on a hike and watch for the abundant wildlife that call this area home. 

The Clear River Rodeo grounds are adjacent to the campground, making it the perfect spot to stay while enjoying the Heavy Horse Days event that is held here annually.

Located along the Peace River downstream from Carter’s Camp boat launch and upstream from Dunvegan bridge, this is a great spot to start a day’s exploration on the river or take a break from a river adventure and stop in for a rest and a picnic. Care to stay longer in this beautiful spot? Choose from one of 15 overnight camping sites equipped with fire pits and picnic tables. Non-potable water, outdoor toilet facilities and firewood is also available for visitors. Pratt’s Landing can be found 32km west of Fairview on highway 682.
