Whispering Pines Ski Hill is Northern Alberta’s Best Kept Secret!Â
Whispering Pines Ski Hill is considered one of Northern Alberta’s premier hills —for good reason. A short, scenic 200-kilometre drive from Grande Prairie, this ski hill offers exceptional hospitality, impeccable maintained runs and dramatic scenery. There are 17 runs, 3 chair lifts, a terrain park, rental shop and ski school. The wide variety of terrain provides excellent skiing and snowboarding for all skill levels. Take a break in-between riding and warm up in their day lodge and enjoy a delicious hot meal. Or sit in the upper chalet and and enjoy a picturesque view of the ski hill. Whatever you do make sure you get your hands on one of their epic cinnamon buns. Visitors travel far and wide to get their hands on these cinnamon buns. Keep an eye out while on the hill for local wildlife friends crossing the coniferous tree-bordered runs. It’s not unusual to come across a deer, moose or even a fox.Â
Are you a cross-country skier?Â
Whispering Pines Ski Hill has an abundance of cross-country ski trails which are free for visitors to use, leading from the ski hill.Â

Place Title: Carters Camp CampgroundÂPlace Description:
Some of the most stunning scenery on the planet can be seen from the top of the Peace River Banks.  An excellent example of this is the Carters Camp area. As visitors descend down into the river valley, they can enjoy the views of the river below and the hills around them. Arriving into the Carters Camp area which is located adjacent the river, visitors will most likely stop and admire the view before them! There are two separate camping areas here. The boat launch area is just before the main camping area. Both campgrounds are well equipped with camp kitchens, outhouses, fire pits, picnic tables and playgrounds. Try your luck at a game of horseshoes and when you’re ready to relax, there’s lots of fire wood available for a long enjoyable campfire in the evening! Many of the campsites offer a river view that will take your breath away.  The Carters Camp campground area is where the Montagneuse River empties into the Peace River. This makes for many interesting areas to hike and explore. Campers can enjoy playing in the water and also try their hand at fishing! Keep your eyes open for wildlife along the river and high on the banks. Â
This area is named for Art and Anna Carter who were pioneers of the area and settled near the mouth of the Montagneuse River in 1917. A monument to this adventurous couple can be seen along the road into the campsite. Â
Carters Camp can be found 25km west of Hines Creek on highway 685.Â
