Beautiful river views abound in the Peace Country and Pratt’s Landing is an excellent example seen here.  Located along the Peace River downstream from Carter’s Camp and upstream from Historic Dunvegan, this camping spot offers something for everyone!  Choose from one of 15 overnight camping sites equipped with fire pits and picnic tables.  Enjoy a day of horse shoes, fishing, hiking and exploring the river valley.  Canoes, kayaks and river boats can access the river from the well-maintained boat launch.  At the end of an amazing day, relax around a warming campfire and listen to the mighty Peace River flowing by.  Younger campers will enjoy the playground and the freedom of lots of space to run and play.  Wildlife can often be viewed in this area. There are day use areas as well as non-potable water, outdoor toilet facilities and firewood available for visitors.

Explore the history of Indigenous people, the fur trade and missionaries in the Peace Region by touring Historic Dunvegan!  This National Historic Site of Canada is located alongside the Peace River with a breathtaking view of Dunvegan Bridge.  This bridge is Alberta’s longest vehicle suspension bridge. There is a visitors’ centre located near the entrance which offers information as well as guided tours of the historic buildings. Guided tours are available from mid May until Labor Day.  Four original authentically restored and furnished buildings are located in the same places they were over a century ago.   There are wide variety of cultural and nature-based activities available.

Day use camp areas with fire pits and horseshoe pitches are available to visitors.  A playground and extensive hiking/biking trails will entertain visitors of all ages.  Canada Day celebrations are held here annually as well as a fresh air market, children’s programs and amphitheatre presentations. Stroll down to the near by market gardens for ice cream, shopping and mini golf!  Dunvegan Provincial Park is located adjacent to this historic site for visitors wishing to stay overnight or longer.

Historic Dunvegan is open mid May through to the beginning of September, 10am – 5pm Monday through Sunday.  It  is located 26km south of Fairview on highway #2.

Visitors will find firewood available, outdoor toilets, tap water and a sewage disposal area. This is a great spot to keep the entire family active with hiking/biking trails, fishing, canoeing and a playground.  If you’re looking for something more relaxing – take a stroll down the scenic river side pathways to nearby Dunvegan Gardens for some shopping, mini golf and ice cream!  Be sure to stop in at the Historic Dunvegan interpretive centre that is right next door.  Explore the region’s history and take a guided tour of the historic buildings still standing in their original spots!

Photo opportunities abound in this beautiful area.  This is a great spot to view Dunvegan bridge which is Alberta’s longest vehicle suspension bridge! The Maples Day Use area can be found a short hike up river and offers a beautiful spot for picnickers.  The South side of the river has a boat launch for boaters wanting to explore the river.  The park is open May 1^st to October 15^th.

Begin a beautiful Peace country day at the Maples Day Use area!  Upon arriving at Historic Dunvegan simply turn right and proceed under the bridge to this beautiful river side area.  Originally an Anglican Mission stood at this site in the 1880’s.  Today visitors can enjoy picnicking, fishing, hiking or biking, a beautiful playground and exploring along the mighty Peace River.  Historic Dunvegan is near by and well worth a visit to explore the history of this fascinating region. Dunvegan Gardens is located close by and offers mini golf, shopping and ice cream!  Dunvegan Provincial Park is adjacent to Historic Dunvegan and offers overnight camping facilities.

The Maples Day Use area is 27km South of Fairview.

This playground and park area have a great selection of play equipment and activities. The extensive hiking/biking trails offer active entertainment for visitors of all ages. The stunning views of Dunvegan Bridge and the Peace River offer some really great photo opportunities to capture a special day of memories. Dunvegan’s boat launch can be found on the south side of the Peace River, road access begins on the west side of the Dunvegan bridge entrance. Parking can be found just above the boat launch area. This well-maintained gravel boat launch is situated on a narrow spot of the river where the water runs deep. Head down river to Shaftsbury and the Town of Peace River or up river to Pratt’s Landing and beyond. A great way to explore the Peace region and the river valley. Stay a few days and visit Historic Dunvegan, Dunvegan Provincial Park, The Maples Park and Dunvegan Market Gardens which are conveniently located along the shore line of the north side of the river.
