The Pinterest-Perfect Home-Away-From-Home You’ll Want to Stay in Forever

Picture this: you wake up between crisp white cotton sheets, go grab a latte from your personal coffee bar in the kitchen, then settle yourself at the custom-made farmhouse table in the dining area. It’s the perfect spot to take in the stunning prairie sun rising through the fog above the valley outside while enjoying the soothing, peaceful retreat inside.

While this may sound like a scene from a Pinterest post, it is also something guests of The Rise Homestead can experience every single morning.

Situated near the edge of the Peace River Valley with wide open prairie on all sides, the completely renovated interior of the mobile home looks like something out of a “beautiful homes” magazine.

The property’s Airbnb page showcases the many thoughtful, touchable details in the modern farmhouse décor. Animal pelt accents, antique statement furniture pieces, a sliding barn door between the back entrance and the kitchen, and cedar wall panelling in the main bathroom complement rustic wood trim, hanging chalkboards, and hints of brass. Pristine white walls hung with vintage photography that showcases the area’s history give a homey feel.

It’s the kind of place you’ll want to live in for good—which is exactly what owner Trina Campbell had in mind.

“I want you to be able to bring a suitcase and have everything you need,” says Campbell. “It’s a true ‘home away from home.’”

Dreams Do Come True

The Airbnb rental property is the fulfillment of a dream for Campbell.

Her father leased and farmed the 200-acre parcel for 30 years, and she always yearned to build a home there that would make use of the stunning view of the valley. When the opportunity to purchase the land came up three years ago, Campbell jumped on it.

Now living in Calgary (and an experienced Airbnb hostess and guest already), she decided to create her dream property in the north and use it as a business.

The Rise Homestead officially opened last November. This fall, she intends to launch Phase 2—a trio of cabins perching at the valley end of the property, complete with a 100-year-old heated claw foot outdoor bathtub, WiFi, and—the best part—an amazing view of the Peace River.

The cabin complex is two bedroom suites and a fully-stocked cookhouse, ideal for people wanting to work remotely or families or couples looking for a little weekend getaway. While The Rise Homestead caters to long-term renters, the cabins will be suitable for any length of stay.

And, of course, Campbell is putting the same care and attention to detail into creating a cozy space her guests will rave over.

Living the Dream

Picture this: you grab a drink from the patio bar, sink into the heated outdoor tub next to your partner beneath the glow of the patio lights and take in the spectacular Peace River Valley. The kids are tucked into bed in their cabin after a long day playing in the hills or bonding over a game of Clue, and now it’s just the two of you beneath the light of the Milky Way. A whitetail deer wanders into view, notices you, and moves on at an unhurried pace.

You turn to your partner and say, “We should do this more often.”

I don’t know about you, but that’s a picture I could put on my memory board.
