In Clear Hills County, there is no shortage of lak In Clear Hills County, there is no shortage of lakes to visit and experience, which makes it the perfect area for outdoor enthusiasts to visit! 

Ole’s Lake is the ultimate spot for daytrips and offers a quiet place to fish, hike, boat and even swim. Stoney Lake provides user-maintained campsites, a clear lake to swim in or paddle on and plenty of fish to cast a line at. Plus, many trails to hike and explore. Running Lake has a campground with many large trees that users can retreat to after a day out on the water kayaking or fishing, plus, biking and hiking are also popular activities here.

Sulphur Lake has a cozy campground tucked away in the trees near the lake’s shoreline. The calm waters are ideal for kayaking, paddle boarding and fishing for trout. With a playground and park on site, this is a prime location for the entire family. Many Islands campground is settled on the banks of the mighty Peace River and offers some of the most spectacular scenery that the river valley has to offer. This destination has a playground, horseshoe pits, hiking trails and a spot to launch river boats in for further exploring. Carter’s Camp is a local favourite and offers stunning views on the drive in. Nestled along the river, this campground is perfect for those who want to hike and do some major sight seeing. Clear River is another campground that offers riverside camping sites, plenty of wildlife and is the perfect spot to get away to and relax. Cleardale campground has campsites with and without power, tents available for rent and a playground to keep children entertained. With so many options, it’s easy to see why Clear Hills County is a favourite to many!

As soon as you enter you will be met with sunshine filtering through the towering trees, plenty of paths and trails to follow and the lovely sound of birds singing all around you. Wilderness Park has two large man-made ponds that have crystal clear water and plenty of fish to catch. Pack your fishing gear and make yourself comfortable on one of the many docks that are available. There are picnic tables, fire pits and immaculate outhouses, so you can pack a lunch and enjoy an entire afternoon outside. You’re guaranteed to love this place after just one visit!

If you’re looking for a campground that your who If you’re looking for a campground that your whole family will enjoy, Queen Elizabeth Park in the Municipal District of Peace 135 is it!

Queen Elizabeth Park has 56 campsites available; 42 sites have power hookups, but all sites come equipped with fire pits and picnic tables. Children will love the brightly coloured playground, the beach for building sandcastles and the forest trails for hiking, biking and exploring. There are also horseshoe pits that are sure to provide hours of entertainment.  If you have a boat, bring it! The lake is ideal for windsurfing, water skiing or tubing and is perfect to spend the day on. For those that prefer quieter days on the water, you can paddleboard, kayak or canoe and catch a glimpse of the many bird species in the area. This park has so much to offer!

This is the ideal spot for families that want to enjoy a quiet afternoon in the shade. With plenty of large trees to sit under, The Maples is the perfect place for a picnic with loved ones. It boasts many fire pits, picnic tables, a cookhouse shelter adorned with historical pictures, horseshoe pits and walking trails with lookout areas nearby. It’s close proximity to the river allows you to listen to the soothing sounds of running water as you kick back and relax in nature. Ideal for all ages, there’s also a fun playground that holds historical significance to the area. If you’re looking for a place to host a large group and enjoy each other’s company, then this is definitely it!

History buffs need to make a stop at the Fairview History buffs need to make a stop at the Fairview Aircraft Restoration Society - FARS  while in the Mighty Peace! 

FARS allows visitors to take a step back in time and learn about the past through the aircraft that they have on site.Their biggest attraction is the CANSO airplane that was used in World War II, which they successful restored and now showcase to the public. Visitors can take a look inside the mighty red plane and appreciate the hard work that went in to bringing it back to life. Stop in and learn about the CANSO’s elaborate history, and if you’re lucky, you may even get a chance to see it soaring high in the sky.
