More than a great place to have a cold beer, Heilan Beer House in Fairview and Peace River Brewing in Peace River both offer guests a unique experience. With tasty beer, spirits, food, welcoming staff, live music, and events, these local breweries bring a chill city vibe to the Mighty Peace. We asked Peace River Brewing owners Medrey Bond, Tyrell Kehler, and Heilan Beer House owner, Trevor Kerschbaumer to share some information about their breweries.
Tell us a bit about your locally crafted beer
Peace River Brewing – Our taproom always has nine house-brewed beers on tap, along with one in-house made kombucha. Top sellers include our Kehler’s Kolsch, Foxtail Amber, and patron favourite, Bangin’ Belgian. We also offer seasonal brews throughout the year. In addition, with our launch of Peace River Distilling, we are now able to serve spirits that are produced on-site using locally sourced grain from within the Peace Country. Spirits include but are not limited to all grain Vodka, Coconut flavoured Vodka, Dill Pickle flavoured Vodka, and our awarding winning Gin.
Heilan Beer House – We have eight rotating taps, all brewed in-house. Our first beer brewed for retail consumption was Biegel Brown, and it’s still a crowd favorite today. Another popular choice is our Dirty Blonde. With so many different options, there is something for everyone. We also can our beer, and it is available for purchase in our Tasting Room.
What do you offer for food options?
Heilan Beer House – At Heilan, our specialty is our wood-fired, thin-crust pizza. Along with our pizza, we have a full menu with a great variety of choices for our guests. We also use our craft beer in some menu options to put a unique twist on traditional recipes and show different uses for the beer we brew. You can look forward to some new menu additions in early 2023!
Peace River Brewing – Everyone loves our soft pretzels served with beer mustard along with local items from our Grazing Gallery. We enjoy sourcing artisanal products from within the province and serving them on our Grazing Board.
What events and services do you offer?
Heilan Beer House – Every Thursday is Open Mic night, where a local musician will host, and guests can feel free to join in. We are also having our annual “Night Before The Night Before” on December 23, 2022 – which is a big Open Mic Pajama Party. In the new year, we plan to put on some fun events and game nights. We also offer rental space for private functions such as meetings, corporate events, parties, and celebrations and we are currently taking bookings for our 2022 holiday parties.
Peace River Brewing – We love supporting local musicians and hosting live music. We also bring stand-up comedians to Peace River from around Canada. Other events include Beer Yoga, Bingo, and crafting/painting nights. For November and December, we have the following events lined up:

Dec 12 and 14, 2022 – Christmas Crafting with Fern’s Greenhouse

Peace River Brewing – They are all amazing! Our Brew Crew consists of the most caring, outgoing,
hardworking people we could dream of. Each person brings a unique vibe to our establishment, and we’re able to grow daily with our like-minded and diverse views
Helian Beer House – We currently have two brewers, a fully staffed kitchen with a new head chef and our amazing front-of-house staff. Every single one of them works their hardest to help make Heilan what it is, and we are so grateful for our fantastic team.

Heilan Beer House – There is so much about the business to love, but getting to know our community has been wonderful, and their support over these last few years has been amazing.

Peace River Brewing – We absolutely adore our patrons, Brew Crew and community. Without all of these people we would not be where we are today. We’re moving in early 2023 to the old Liquidation World building and are excited to contribute further to the downtown area.
