1. Geocaching
Head out on a geocaching treasure hunt down Pat’s Creek Interpretive Trail. Not only will you experience the beauty of this gorgeous trail, but you will enjoy the thrill of finding the hidden geocache trinkets. Access this trail by following 100th street north of the Town of Peace River until you reach the parking area, or you can start on the south end of the trail by driving southwest of Peace River for five minutes to the Sunrise Gateway Business Park. Then, turn onto Fairground Road until you reach the end of the road.
2. Cross Country Skiing and Snowshoeing
Pat’s Creek Interpretive Trail
Be prepared to get lost in the beauty of winter snowshoeing or cross country skiing on Pat’s Creek Interpretive Trail. This treasured trail 7.6 km trail provides gorgeous winter views around every curve and corner. Bring snacks for a winter picnic, and be ready to capture photos of the stunning landscape and abundant wildlife along the way.
Harmon Valley Park
Pack up your snowshoes or cross country skis and take in the refreshing winter air at the Harmon Valley Park. The campground area offers tons of room to explore with wide-open spaces and spectacular views of the day or night sky. Bring some hot dogs and enjoy a winter campfire – they have fire pits, free firewood, a picnic shelter and a cook shack.
3. Unique Stays
Rendez Vous Rv Park
Enjoy a winter weekend just a hop, skip and a jump away at this excellent full-service campground with year-round cabin rentals. Their new facilities include a laundromat, convenience store, restrooms, and showers. There’s free wifi and good cell coverage if you need to stay connected. Located on Peace River’s east hill.
4. Sledding
If you love snowmobiling, check out Wesley Creek Trail – 30 km of breathtaking backcountry surrounded by dense forest with spectacular views. This is one of several trails maintained and groomed by Peace Valley Snow Riders Association (PVSR) members and volunteers. PVSR has a network of four trails, and you can view trail maps on their website.
5. Skating
St. Isidore – outdoor skating rink.
Grab your skates and head over to the St. Isidore Outdoor Skating Rink for a refreshing outdoor skating experience. This maintained outdoor ice surface is the perfect place to take in the winter air. Bring some friends for a relaxing skate or a friendly game of shinny – you are sure to feel refreshed and recharged after time here. The rink is located on the south side of St. Isidore by the playground.
