1. Shopping

Grimshaw has some of the most diverse and welcoming local businesses in the area! Check out stores along and near Main Street and be met with gift shops full of plants, flowers, home décor, glassware, DIY kits and jewellery; a wellness centre with locally made tea, yoga supplies and artwork; pharmacies and drugstores that provide home goods and snacks, plus shops that offer pet supplies, crafting goods, toys and clothing. Plan a day and have fun walking to each store, making conversation with welcoming employees and getting your hands on some locally sourced goodies. There really is something for everyone here!

2. Mile Zero Marker

Whether you’re passing through or staying awhile, you must check out the Mile Zero Marker for a quick history lesson and photo op!

This monument is easy to find and is situated next to a historical Northern Alberta Railway car. Visitors can take pictures with both and see where mile zero of the Mackenzie Highway starts. This highway stretches out towards Hay River and Yellowknife and makes for a great summer road trip. Be sure to stop in and if you have time, check out the local library branch next door or the ice cream shop across the street!

3. Eateries

When it comes to food, Grimshaw has everyone covered. With places that offer pizzas, burgers, wings, milkshakes, Chinese food and salads, everyone will be able to find something that they can enjoy.

One of the local favourites is the Krooked House pub that showcases Alberta craft brewed beer, tasty cocktails and a gorgeous patio to enjoy them on. Their menu is simple, but delightful with options like nachos, uniquely topped pizzas, charcuterie boards and freshly made salads. The atmosphere is inviting and cozy and visitors can relax inside with a pint while they watch TV or sit out on the patio beneath the shade of a large umbrella and sip on a tasty beverage. This pub will have you coming back for seconds in no time!

4. Mile Zero Regional Multiplex

Looking to get your blood pumping? Then plan a trip to the Mile Zero Regional Multiplex! Here you’ll be able to find plenty of options for getting your heart rate up and enjoying some exercise. Rent some time in the fieldhouse and play volleyball and basketball or grab some kid friendly items and run around to burn off some energy.

Upstairs you will find an elevated walking track that overlooks the fieldhouse below. It has a beautifully painted mural along one wall to enjoy as you walk or run laps and is also stroller friendly. If you’re looking to get extra sweaty, then pop into the Fitness Centre to lift some weights and use the cardio machines. When it comes to your health and fitness, this is the perfect place to be!
