Right in the heart of Peace River lies Mighty Peace’s most extensive snowmaking system and the most vertical descent in northern Alberta. This is one of Alberta’s sunniest regions, and is surrounded by Peace River’s amenities and stunning sights.

Manning Ski Hill

You’re surrounded by amazing restaurants and beautiful sights in Manning, but to really take it all in, skiing is the way to go. Enjoy five perfect runs from beginner to expert and relax afterwards with coffee and hot chocolate inside!

Whispering Pines Ski Hill

This is it folks – northern Alberta’s best kept secret! Visit a premium ski hill with a short yet scenic 200km drive from Grande Prairie. Alpine skiing doesn’t get much better than this, and it’s suitable for all ages and skill levels. When you’re ready for a break, head into the chalet for a picturesque view and some of the best cinnamon buns you’ve ever tasted.

Only a short drive southwest of Fairview, view the gorgeous Hines Creek coulee as you race down entirely natural snow. With over six kilometres of groomed runs, fourlifts ranging from beginner to expert, and a diverse terrain park, FairviewSki Hill is the perfect spot for a family outing. If you don’t go skiing very often, that’s okay! They have the best rental selection in the region, and offer lessons for beginners.

Cummings Lake Trail and Sand Hills

Strap on the skis and enjoy the groomed public-access trails at Cummings Lake and the Sand Hills (20 km of trails altogether), which are maintained by the Dunvegan Nordic Ski and Cycle Club.

There are plenty of places in Alberta to ski, but none of them compare to the untamed wilderness of northern Alberta. The Mighty Peace area is a sight to behold any time of year, but the snow covered hills are what make it truly iconic.
