Known for fantastic fishing with a gorgeous backdrop, Haig Lake is worth the drive. Located in the Woodland Cree First Nation, this 881.8ha lake has pickerel, whitefish and jackfish. If you don’t feel like fishing, you can enjoy the day on your motorized boat, canoe, paddleboard or kayak. Nestled in pristine backcountry, the peace and tranquillity experienced here are second to none. They also have eight unserviced camping sites, firepits, picnic tables, a hiking trail and excellent cell phone service if you need to stay connected.

Get there: Take Highway 743 north to highway 986, turn left onto Township Road 871A. Haig Lake is approximately 1.5 hours northeast of Peace River.

Experience a truly Canadian camping experience at Cadotte Lake in Woodland Cree First Nation, this summer. Plenty of forested area around this lake offer visitors a cozy and quiet area to set up camp in their choice of several un-serviced sites. Simon Lake Rink – Beside the Simon Lake Store located approximately 69 km northeast of  Peace River. 

Marten Lake Rink – Beside the Rec Centre in Marten Lake – located approximately 84 km northeast of Peace River. 

Located in the Northern Boreal of the Woodland Cree First Nation, Sawn Lake is ideal for those who enjoy quadding or snowmobiling in dense forests and fishing in natural settings. With unserviced camping areas to stay at, fishermen and visitors can try their hand at catching Northern Pike in both summer and winter months, or quad and sled the trails nearby.
