  • May 3 and 4, High Prairie Traditional Pow Wow and Regional Youth Hand Games

Hosted by the High Prairie Aboriginal Interagency Committee at the High Prairie Sports Palace, this exciting event features a spirited youth hand games tournament, showcasing the skill and energy of young competitors in a game deeply rooted in Indigenous tradition. The traditional Pow Wow includes a breathtaking Grand Entry, where dancers in stunning regalia fill the arena to the powerful rhythm of the drums. Guests can enjoy free stew and bannock, take part in or watch a lively hand drum contest, and explore authentic Indigenous craft tables, food vendors, and merchandise booths. Hosted by the Grande Prairie Aboriginal Circle of Services, the Grande Prairie Traditional Pow Wow, held at Evergreen Park, is a spectacular celebration of Indigenous culture, community, and tradition. This high-energy event features a powerful Grand Entry each day that welcomes dancers and drummers from across the region in a vibrant display of regalia, rhythm, and spirit. Throughout the weekend, visitors can enjoy a variety of cultural competitions, including a thrilling hand games tournament and a lively Métis jigging contest that gets the whole crowd cheering.
