Ice Fishing
Enjoy a uniquely Canadian experience on one of the many lakes in the Mighty Peace!
Bundle up, get outside and spend an adventurous day fishing in a whole new way — through the ice! Try your hand at catching some Mountain Whitefish, Arctic Grayling, Rainbow Trout, Lake Whitefish and Walleye. If you are lucky you might even catch a Bull Trout, Kokanee or Northern Pike.
The Mighty Peace is known for its abundance of lakes, prime fishing spots and water activities during the summer months, but the fun doesn’t have to stop there when the seasons change. As the temperatures drop and the snow begins to fly, locals and visitors alike can still find and enjoy plenty of outdoor activities within the Peace Region.
Love Icefishing?
Grab a friend or two and pack up the ice auger, fishing rod, and a thermos or two of cocoa (make it Irish for extra warmth!) and head out to one of the region’s lakes for a morning of relaxation and camaraderie. Grill up your catch with a Coleman grill for a delicious lunch on the ice.
Or, if you plan for an evening trip on a clear night, enjoy dinner under the dazzling skyscape of stars and aurora borealis. Stocked lakes include Ole’s Lake, Running Lake, Sulphur Lake, and Stoney Lake (a.k.a. Montagneuse Lake).
(Psst… make sure you have your fishing license.)
