It’s spooky season in the Mighty Peace, where mist rolls across the river, candlelight flickers in old buildings, and every trail seems to hold a story waiting to be told.
While haunted houses and ghost walks certainly have their place, fall here is about more than just being scared. It’s a season for slowing down, embracing old traditions, gathering around fires, learning from the land, and celebrating the magic that comes with longer nights.
Whether you believe in ghosts, witches, or simply love cozy fall experiences, the Mighty Peace offers endless ways to embrace the enchantment of October.
Step Into Your Kitchen Witch Era
Start your journey by embracing your inner kitchen witch. This fall, The Green Goddess is transforming her studio into an old-world apothecary for an evening of herbalism at its finest.
Apprentice Kitchen Witches will step into a candlelit space filled with hanging bundles of herbs, the scent of fresh tea, and quiet folk music drifting through the room.
Guests are encouraged to arrive in witch hats as they explore the centuries-old traditions of herbal healing.
Throughout the evening, you’ll discover five timeless herbs every kitchen witch should know — yarrow, calendula, lemon balm, sage, and rose — while creating handcrafted herbal gifts to take home, including a yarrow tea blend, calendula lip balm, rose elixir, sage-infused honey, and a bottle of The Green Goddess Lemon Balm Hydrosol.
Every apprentice will leave with their own Certificate of Kitchen Witchery and perhaps a little more magic than when they arrived.

Harvest Glow: A Pumpkin Botanical Spa Ritual
Slip into something cozy and spend a slow Sunday afternoon at The Green Goddess for Harvest Glow, a pampering botanical spa experience celebrating pumpkin, naturally beautiful skin and the abundance of the autumn harvest.
We’ll begin by wandering through The Green Goddess herbal apothecary, where you’ll choose from an array of homegrown and carefully selected herbs and flowers to create your own botanical facial steam. Then settle in, breathe deeply and unwind to peaceful music as we begin our autumn spa ritual.
Next, we’ll create and apply a fresh pumpkin facial mask, made with real pumpkin and other skin-loving ingredients. Explore our collection of beautiful cosmetic clays and customize your mask to suit your own skin before relaxing and letting your pumpkin facial work its magic.
With freshly cleansed skin, you’ll visit our Hydrosol Ritual Bar to experience a collection of handcrafted botanical facial toners, including hydrosols distilled right here from our own botanical gardens. Discover which botanical mist your skin loves, then complete your facial ritual with your choice of one of our luxurious Botanical Face Elixirs.
We’ll finish our afternoon together by handcrafting a rich Pumpkin Body Butter, featuring beautiful pumpkin seed oil. You’ll make it your own by choosing from our apothecary collection of more than 100 essential oils to create a personal aroma.
And the pampering doesn’t end when you leave.
Each guest will take home:
- A full-size botanical hydrosol of their choice
- A full-size botanical face elixir of their choice
- Their own handcrafted Pumpkin Body Butter

Pumpkins & Petals
Gather a friend and escape to the countryside for a cozy autumn evening of pumpkins, petals and creativity.
Join The Green Goddess and special guest Kristen of Back Forty Blooms for Pumpkins & Petals—a relaxed, hands-on workshop where you’ll transform a charming mini pumpkin into a beautiful piece of botanical fall décor.
Kristen will bring a collection of locally grown flowers and botanicals from her flower farm, along with everything you’ll need to create your own one-of-a-kind pumpkin. She’ll guide us through the process as we decorate our pumpkins with beautiful dried blooms and botanical touches. With pumpkins in an assortment of natural shapes, sizes and colours, no two creations will be quite the same.
Best of all, these botanical pumpkins can last for months, making them a beautiful addition to your Thanksgiving table, fall gatherings or seasonal décor.
Hosted inside The Green Goddess country studio, this evening is designed to be as much about slowing down and enjoying the season as it is about creating something beautiful. Sip on light refreshments, visit and create alongside friends, and enjoy some time to browse and shop The Green Goddess studio while you’re here.

Sasquatch Sightings In The Wild
Every good witch knows the forest holds secrets. In the Mighty Peace, some say one of those secrets is Sasquatch.
Stories of strange tracks, mysterious sounds, and sightings in the woods have become part of the region’s folklore. Head into the forest, gather around a fire, and keep your eyes open—you never know what might be watching from the trees. Read one of the story sightings in Peace River here or in Hines Creek here.
The Cryptic Hunter Escape Site
Looking for a spooky experience this fall? Head to Rendez-Vous RV Park in Northern Sunrise County and test your courage, your teamwork, and your detective skills with The Cryptic Hunter – Escape Site.
This unique take on the classic escape room invites participants into the mysterious world of a Bigfoot researcher who has suddenly gone radio silent. Something has happened at the park—and whatever he discovered is about to disappear forever.
Your mission? Break into his trailer, uncover the evidence, and get it back to the Rendez-Vous RV Park staff before time runs out.
You’ll have just 50 minutes to search for clues, solve puzzles, piece together the mystery, and recover the evidence before the clean-up crew arrives to torch the trailer. Once you have the evidence, you’ll need to get it uploaded by the park staff before it is erased forever.

Embrace the magic this October 30 at the Peace River Art Club’s 4th Annual Art Gala & Masquerade Ball. Enjoy an enchanting evening celebrating local art, live music, complimentary refreshments, a cash bar, raffle prizes, door prizes, and a gift shop filled with handcrafted treasures. Where your favorite masquerade mask and join them for a night of creativity, community, and mystery.

If haunted attractions are more your speed, you’re in luck.
The Peace River Agricultural Society’s Haunted House has become a Halloween tradition for thrill seekers, while Lac Cardinal Pioneer Village Museum transforms its historic buildings into an eerie outdoor haunted experience. The Junior Forest Wardens the Smoky River Bears put on a “Come Get Your Scare On” haunted trail in McLennan.
In Fairview, the annual Fairview Haunted Forest Walk is full of spooky surprises for an evening that’s sure to leave you looking over your shoulder.
If that is a little to scary for you Grimshaw Community Services will be putting on their annual Children’s Safe Indoor Halloween Party on October 31, from 4-6pm at the Mile Zero Regional Multiplex.

Dunvegan Valley remains one of the region’s most famous haunted locations, where stories of the Grey Lady wandering the bridge and the ghostly priest of the historic rectory continue to fascinate visitors decades later. Elsewhere, whispers continue about the Spanish Flu cemetery hidden below the Grouard Trail, the grave of 12 Foot Davis, mysterious happenings at the original mission site near the Peace River jail, strange encounters near the Shaftesbury Ferry, stories surrounding Notikewin Provincial Park, and an abandoned settlement in Northern Sunrise County that many believed had become cursed.
