Pickleball is booming in the Peace Region, with both indoor and outdoor options for every season. Beyond pickleball, communities are offering disc golf, volleyball, trails, and family-friendly fun. Here’s a closer look at where you can play and explore.

Baytex Energy Centre

The Baytex Energy Centre in the Town of Peace River is the region’s largest indoor recreation facility and a hub for pickleball year-round. It features 9 indoor hard courts with permanent lines and portable nets, giving players consistent, professional-quality surfaces. With locker rooms, restrooms, and plenty of parking, it’s set up for both casual players and organized groups. A one-time fee is required, making it easy for visitors to join in.

Lower West Peace Playground


When the weather is warm, the Lower West Peace Playground located at 11133 91 Street in Peace River, Alberta is the place to be. With 4 well-lit outdoor hard courts marked with permanent lines, it’s a casual, welcoming spot for summer evening games. Players bring their own nets, but there’s no charge to play—making it one of the most accessible pickleball courts in the region.

Misery Mountain Disc Golf

Pickleball isn’t the only game in town. Misery Mountain offers a disc golf course surrounded by natural scenery.

  • Saturday–Sunday: Advance booking required

Disc Golf At the Berwyn Baseball Diamond

A low-key spot where the community has turned its baseball diamond into a disc golf area. Bring your own discs and enjoy a casual game in a relaxed small-town setting.

Mile Zero Regional Multiplex


Grimshaw’s Mile Zero Multiplex offers an easy way to try pickleball with drop-in evenings from 7–9pm. Affordable at $5/adult or $3/senior, it’s a great entry point for beginners. Schedules may change depending on facility rentals, so calling ahead is recommended.

Stay active even when you’re not playing pickleball. For just $2, locals and visitors can access the indoor walking track every Saturday, year-round from 9am–5pm.

Jumbo Jumper Air Pillow


In the summer, kids can burn off energy on the Jumbo Jumper air pillow located at 5001 47 Avenue in Grimshaw, open daily from 10am–8pm. It’s a must-visit for families spending time in town.

Off-Leash Dog Park


This spacious fenced-in dog park is perfect for giving pets a chance to stretch their legs and socialize. Located at 5202 57 Avenue in Grimshaw.

Smoky River Outdoor Community Multisport Court & Beach Volleyball

Behind École Héritage School in Falher, this outdoor facility is a vibrant gathering place in summer. Play pickleball, basketball, or tennis on the multisport court, then cool off with a game of beach volleyball. Cecil Thompson Park

A family-friendly park with beach volleyball, bouncy pillow, playground, a wheelchair-accessible fishing dock, and a new wheelchair-accessible merry-go-round being added this fall. It’s a destination where everyone can join in the fun, regardless of ability.

Marie Reine Community Centre

Families can now enjoy a brand-new bouncy pillow for kids, a favourite attraction in many rural communities.

Pat’s Creek & Harmon Valley Campground

Perfect for outdoor explorers, these areas now feature new interpretive trail signs created with Sharon Krusel and her Mother Earth book, making every walk a chance to learn about local ecology.
