Q & A With the Mighty Peace Golf Club

Mighty Peace Golf Club is a golf facility that lies between Grimshaw and Peace River in North West Alberta. The 18-hole championship golf course features all the hallmarks of Northern Alberta golf, including lush fairways, undulating greens, various tee decks that will challenge novice to expert golfers alike and spectacular views. In this Q&A we interviewed Dave Allan one of the owner and operators of the Mighty Peace Golf Club.

Can you tell us a bit about your golf course?

The current ownership took over the operations of the golf club in April of 2016.  It is an 18-hole, par 72 championship course with practice area, driving range, full-service clubhouse, pro shop, and 26-site campground.  Most of the holes are bordered by trees and with multiple tee decks, players of all skill levels can enjoy this golf course.

Where did your passion for golf come from?

My passion for golf started when I was a young boy growing up on a dairy farm north of Edmonton.  My parents and grandparents all golfed and they would take me out to the local golf course during the summer months.  Over time I came to really enjoy the game and have played it ever since.  I have played many sports competitively over the years, but golf is truly a lifelong game.

What can a visitor expect when they come to golf?

A visitor to our golf course can expect a friendly greeting from our pro shop staff, reasonable prices, and a well maintained golf course to play.

Do you offer any food or beverages at your golf course?

Our restaurant/lounge facility has a wide variety of food and beverage choices and we offer home baked goods.  We also provide banquet services for any size group up to 150 people.

What makes your golf course unique from any other golf course in the Mighty Peace?

It is one of the few 18 hole golf courses available for play, there is always wildlife somewhere on the course, and it is very picturesque.

Do you offer camping at the golf course?

We have a 26-site campground just in behind the driving range.  Stalls have 30 amp power.  There is water available at the gazebo near the entrance.  Each site also has a picnic table and a fire pit.  Firewood is free and plentiful.  The entire campground is set in a treed area and thus is very private.  We offer daily, weekly, monthly, and seasonal rates.

Do you have any upcoming events?

We have many corporate and private golf tournaments booked throughout the summer.  Our complete schedule is kept up to date on our website at www.mightypeacegolf.com

What is your favourite memory at your golf course?

My favourite memories of the golf course are when we were constructing the back nine holes from 1987 to 1989.  It was a lot of work, but the results were very rewarding.
