Keep everyone entertained with a variety of activities available in the area. Canoe, kayak or paddle board on the lake and watch for the many species of birds that also enjoy the water! Walk, jog or run on the 11km of trails that connect the area with the Town of Fairview as well as the Fairview Golf Course. Watch for wildlife that is often spotted near the trail! There are horse shoe pits and a play ground available for visitors as well. During your stay take a stroll over to the Fairview Pioneer Museum that is adjacent to the campground and learn about the early settlers of the area. The area also features ball diamonds and soccer fields. After a busy day of fun, relax around a cozy campfire and enjoy a spectacular Peace Country sunset!

Winter Cross Country Skiing:
The trailhead can be reached by following a lane north from the intersection of 108 Ave and 108 St. This short lane leads to a parking lot. From the parking lot users pass through a pass through opening in the fence, across the plowed paved walking path to find the cross country ski trail a few metres away.

This is a user-maintained campground with firepits and picnic tables available. The calm clear lake provides opportunities to swim, paddle board, canoe or kayak! Fishing enthusiasts can cast a line from the pier or their non motorized boat! There is a boat launch available. There is something for everyone to enjoy in this beautiful and remote area. Many different species of birds and wild animals can be enjoyed while hiking or mountain biking the area trails. Figure Eight Lake Provincial Recreation Area is located 40 kilometers northwest of Peace River on Highway 737 in the County of Northern Lights. Figure Eight Lake takes its name from the shape it had before 1970 when the water level was low, in these earlier days the lake had two basins and resembled a figure eight.
The area offers a beautiful, rustic, family friendly, lakeshore campground which has many activities to offer. During your stay you can fish, boat, wind surf, canoe or just enjoy the beautiful lake view! Visitors can also enjoy a hike on forested hiking trails around the lake and you may see one of the multitude of birds and other wildlife that inhabit this area! An easy-access hand launch allows you to get your electric-powered boat on the water to find the best fishing spots, or you can fish from the seawall. Visitors may access the lakeshore by a handy paved foot path. OHV trails can be accessed nearby for hours of family fun! After a day of making memories, get ready to relax and enjoy your evening at one of 27 beautifully forested campsites which can accommodate RVs or tents.
Winter activities can be enjoyed here as well with 5kms of ungroomed cross country ski trails and ice fishing available.

Their mission is to promote responsible snowmobiling in the Peace Region and develop trails that form a network on both the east and west side of Peace River. Baytex Wesley Trail
This trail officially opened on March 5, 2016 in conjunction with the Club’s first Poker Rally. This 30 km trail runs in a loop to the east and north of St. Isidore and the staging area can be accessed from Township Road 842, north of St. Isidore. There is also an access point directly from St. Isidore for those in the area.
Osmand/Get Away Cabins Leddy Lake Trail
This trail opened on March 19, 2011 and is located north of Peace River. It runs 40 km north from the Leddy Lake Recreation Area to the area of Driftwood Lake near Deadwood. It also crosses the beautiful Whitemud river valley. This trail also includes a small loop near the Leddy Lake Recreation Area.
Smith Mills Trail
Opening on March 11, 2017, the East End Staging Area is located to the north of Grimshaw and the West End Staging Area is located to the north of Hines Creek. This trail runs 60 kilometers north of Figure Eight Lake to just east of Stony Lake. It includes a loop near the west end of the trail that has a magnificent view of the area. Recently there has been 20km added to this trail with community access north of Last Lake.
Canfor Hines Creek Trail
This trail opened in 2019 and joins up with the Smith Mills trail and is the only trail that is connected to a community where sledders can go for fuel, food and a sled shop for repairs. With a total of 100km, it is perfect for those who want to experience a longer ride. The scenery on this trail is diverse and amazing, and the trail itself is one of the more challenging trails.

Lake views can be enjoyed by all visitors to this campground tucked into the tree line along the shore of Lac Cardinal. Water enthusiasts can enjoy swimming, windsurfing, paddle boarding, canoeing and kayaking. Boaters can use the boat launch to gain access to the lake, so water skiing, tubing and sailing are fun options!
Visitors can play some beach volleyball, horseshoes or just relax on the beach. Over 140 species of birds and other wildlife have been spotted here so keep your eyes open while hiking and mountain biking on the shore line and forest trails! After a day of enjoying all these activities, kick back and relax in one of 56 camp sites available. 42 of these sites offer power and all offer fire pits and picnic tables. To make your stay more convenient potable water, washrooms and a dump station are available on site.
Don’t forget! There’s no better way to enjoy a sparkling winter day than snowshoeing or cross country skiing the 4.5km of ungroomed trails in the park!
This park has a very convenient location only 5 km north west of Grimshaw on Township Road 834/833A. The Lac Cardinal Rodeo Grounds and Pioneer Village Museum are adjacent to the park and within walking distance.
