The Peace Regional Pool is one of the most popular facilities in the Peace Region among visitors and residents alike. Over 60,000 people visit the Pool on an annual basis! This fabulous facility was opened to the public on June 24 1989, and will be celebrating it’s 34^th birthday in 2023. The Pool has many attractions that cater to a wide range of visitors, from an Aqua Zumba program to a steam room for those that like to take it easy.

In addition to its physical attractions, the Pool is open throughout the year and hosts a full range of programming options. Our programs include (but are not limited to) private rentals, aqua aerobics, swimming lessons for ages 4 months to 99+, as well as lifeguarding and instructor courses. The Peace River Agricultural Society grounds consist of 2 outdoor riding arenas (250′ x 250′ and 125′ x 225′), 3 indoor barns with a total of 40 stalls, 1 outdoor barn with 10 stalls, a Quonset with a stage for bands or dj’s, and a  200 person capacity hall with commercial kitchen, bathrooms and showers, 80 acres of field and trails, camping with 10amp power. It should be noted that horse boarding is only offered during events.

BMX racing is a popular sport in Peace River  and continues to grow. The Peace River BMX Track is a Town-owned facility that is open every day during daylight hours for the public to use. There is no charge to use the track; however, all users are encouraged  to wear appropriate safety gear, including a certified bicycle helmet. All users ride at their own risk. The BMX track offers jumps, turns and is well maintained. The track is used by beginners to experienced BMX riders.

The Peace Valley Snow Riders are a group dedicated to helping families and friends get out of the house and enjoy the Mighty Peace this winter. Their mission is to promote responsible snowmobiling in the Peace Region and develop trails that form a network on both the east and west side of Peace River. Each trail has rest stops with fire pits, picnic tables, outhouses and firewood.

With many sights and scenery to appreciate, riding their trails is a must this winter!

Beautiful river views abound in the Peace Country and Pratt’s Landing is an excellent example seen here.  Located along the Peace River downstream from Carter’s Camp and upstream from Historic Dunvegan, this camping spot offers something for everyone!  Choose from one of 15 overnight camping sites equipped with fire pits and picnic tables.  Enjoy a day of horse shoes, fishing, hiking and exploring the river valley.  Canoes, kayaks and river boats can access the river from the well-maintained boat launch.  At the end of an amazing day, relax around a warming campfire and listen to the mighty Peace River flowing by.  Younger campers will enjoy the playground and the freedom of lots of space to run and play.  Wildlife can often be viewed in this area. There are day use areas as well as non-potable water, outdoor toilet facilities and firewood available for visitors.

Pratt’s Landing can be found 32km west of Fairview on highway 682.

Don’t forget! There’s no better way to enjoy a sparkling winter day than snowshoeing or cross country skiing the 4.5km of ungroomed trails in the park!

Peace River’s central park, situated next to the idyllic Peace River and quaint downtown.

Riverfront Park offers a number of opportunities year-round. During the summer it is a busy place with events taking place, a large gazebo and access to power help to make this a great cornerstone of outdoor community events. There’s also a walking path, picnic tables, boat launch access, fishing and, a playground for children and each Canada Day the park hosts the Town’s celebrations and fireworks. In the winter the parks stays vibrant with over 1000 Christmas lights. Each year in November a celebration, Light Up the Park, is held to celebrate the lighting of the park, it features skating, hot chocolate, food, and fireworks. The Town of Peace River also maintains a rink in the park through the winter making for some great outdoor skating.

The Riverview Playground is located in the Town of Peace River and is great for children 5 to 12 years of age. Pack a cooler and let the kids imaginations run wild at the Riverview Park. There is a large green space and picnic tables set up for you to create the ultimate picnic.

Cozy, well treed camping sites near the shore of Running Lake are available to visitors planning a day trip or a longer stay. Campers will have outdoor toilets, fire pits, picnic tables and a picnic shelter available. The calm clear lake provides opportunities to swim, paddle board, canoe or kayak! Fishing enthusiasts can cast a line from the pier or their non motorized boat! A fish cleaning station is available as well as a boat launch area. There is something for everyone to enjoy at the play ground and on the hiking/biking trails. Enjoy a crisp clear winter day by going ice fishing on the lake or doing some snowshoeing and cross-country skiing on the ungroomed trails.

Running Lake is a scenic drive 8km East and 22km North of Worsley. The campground is open mid May to mid September.

The legendary 12 Foot Davis statue!

Henry Fuller Davis struck it rich in the mid-1800s on a 12 Foot gold claim in northern British Columbia, earning him around $12,000 as well as the “12 Foot Davis” nickname. Spending much of his life as a fur trader on the Peace River, he left his mark on many places in the region and was known for his good business sense and friendliness.

A wooden statue of 12 Foot Davis stands proudly in Riverfront Park,  located along the bank of the Peace River, downtown Peace River. The park is complimented by a children’s playground, gazebo, and a beautiful view of the Peace River. A paved walking trail connects the park to the Peace River Museum, Archives and Mackenzie Centre.

While some area residents joke that Dixonville may have the world’s smallest museum, it is proof of a group of people with a very big sense of community.  Located in an authentic early 20th century trading post cabin within the Hamlet of Dixonville this museum was one of the first log buildings in the community.  The original one room store was owned and operated by various residents and was eventually restored by the community’s many volunteers. The building became the Dixonville Museum and opened to the public showcasing many artifacts of the community settlement. The original building and restoration of this museum showcases the strength, determination and cooperation of the pioneers of this region.

Community Park and Campground, the bouncy pillow at Cecil Thompson Park has fast become a landmark in the community of Northern Sunrise County. In addition to the bouncy pillow the park features; challenging outdoor exercise equipment, a wonderful fishing pond, a beautiful gazebo and a walking bridge. A perfect location to spend the day or spend the night at one of the 5 unserviced lots, available first come first serve at no charge.

The bouncy pillow is available from 8am – 10pm, 7 days a week.

Some of the most stunning scenery on the planet can be seen from the top of the Peace River Banks.   An excellent example of this is the Carters Camp area.  As visitors descend down into the river valley, they can enjoy the views of the river below and the hills around them.  Arriving into the Carters Camp area which is located adjacent the river, visitors will most likely stop and admire the view before them!  There are two separate camping areas here.  The boat launch area is just before the main camping area. Both campgrounds are well equipped with camp kitchens, outhouses, fire pits, picnic tables and playgrounds.  Try your luck at a game of horseshoes and when you’re ready to relax, there’s lots of fire wood available for a long enjoyable campfire in the evening! Many of the campsites offer a river view that will take your breath away.   The Carters Camp campground area is where the Montagneuse River empties into the Peace River.  This makes for many interesting areas to hike and explore.  Campers can enjoy playing in the water and also try their hand at fishing!  Keep your eyes open for wildlife along the river and high on the banks.  

This area is named for Art and Anna Carter who were pioneers of the area and settled near the mouth of the Montagneuse River in 1917.  A monument to this adventurous couple can be seen along the road into the campsite.  

Carters Camp can be found 25km west of Hines Creek on highway 685.
