5 great places to river fish along the Peace River

The Peace River is home to Arctic Grayling, Burbot (Ling Cod), Goldeye, Mountain Whitefish, Northern Pike (jackfish), and Walleye (sometimes mistakenly referred to as Pickerel), according to the Alberta Fishing Guide. Here are some great spots along the mighty peace to throw in your hook:

Strong Creek Park

This is such a gorgeous and peaceful area with lots of spots to throw in your hook and fish from the riverbank. Strong Creek Park is located along Shaftsbury Trail and is also an entry point for people who are kayaking, paddleboarding or tubing down the river. They also have free unserviced camping sites, a playground and a kitchen shelter. Located south of Peace River on Highway 684.

Many Islands

Every area of the Mighty Peace brings its own brilliance, and Many Islands is no exception. This area offers stunning scenery of the river valley and the wildlife that calls the area home. They also have camping sites with fire pits, picnic tables, outdoor washrooms, camp kitchens, boat launch, horseshoe pits and hiking trails. Located 24 km southeast of Worsley on Highway 64.

Carters Camp

River fishing is a must at Carters Camp! This stunning area is unique because the Montagneuse River merges into the Peace River between the two camping areas. There are a ton of gorgeous sandy places to set up your fishing chair and relax for the day. The campground is also equipped with a camp kitchen, camping sites, fire pits, outhouses, picnic tables and a playground. Located 25 km west of Hines Creek on Highway 685.

Pratts Landing

Located along the Peace River downstream from Carter’s Camp and upstream from Historic Dunvegan, this great spot offers something for everyone. In addition to being a great place to fish, Pratts Landing has a boat launch, a day-use area, outdoor toilets, firewood and 15 overnight camping sites equipped with fire pits and picnic tables. Located 32km west of Fairview on Highway 682.

Historic Dunvegan Provincial Park

Picturesque is an understatement for the scenery this place provides for your next river fishing adventure. Dunvegan Provincial Park area has many places to throw in your line and enjoy the spectacular river valley view. They have a day-use area, playground, museum, camping sites, a boat launch, Market Garden and Gift Shop nearby. Located 26 km south of Fairview.
