There’s no shortage of ways to enjoy the winter magic in the Town of Grimshaw. This bustling little town, famous for being the Mile Zero of the Mackenzie Highway, has plenty to offer residents and guests. Skating

Enjoy a refreshing outdoor skate at the Mainway Electrical Outdoor Skating Rink located between the outdoor swimming pool and the skate park. Outfitted with shelters and benches to lace up your skates, this treasured rink is enjoyed by all ages in the winter months. Bring some friends for a relaxing skate or a friendly game of shinny. The rink is maintained by the Town of Grimshaw and is sponsored by Mainway Electrical and Instrumental Ltd.

Keep Warm

The Grimshaw Municipal Library is a relaxing and cozy place to spend any day – especially a chilly winter day. Get comfy and lost in a book, or get that project done in this modern and spacious library space. Scanning, printing, copying, and faxing services are available, and there’s five computers available for public use. There is something for everyone here with such a wide variety of books, magazines, digital downloads, plus their variety of formats that support visual, learning and physical disabilities such as braille, audio and etext. The friendly and knowledgeable staff will help you find a book, resource or even introduce you to the library pets. They are located at the Mile Zero Regional Multiplex at 4909-50 street, on the south east side of Grimshaw.

Exercise and Sports

The Mile Zero Regional Multiplex is truly the hub of this great community and the place where all ages play sports, work out, go for a walk, or cheer on the athletes in their lives. Inside this incredible facility is a field house, an ice rink, a fitness center and weight room, a 175.3 meter elevated walking track, and a concession booth with lots of tasty food and snacks. Thanks to the community’s support, there are many options to participate in free-sponsored public skating or time on the walking track. In addition, shinny, pickleball, figure skating, hockey games, and social events like concerts, dances and trade fairs on the weekend keep this fantastic facility hopping.

Shop

A visit to the Raediance Florist & Gift Shop is sure to cure any winter blues. They offer beautiful fresh flower arrangements, house plants, giftware, treasured and locally made items, a large variety of essential oils and a ton of do-it-yourself kits for those chilly winter days inside. There’s so much for all the senses to enjoy in this gift shop, and the staff is super helpful and welcoming. Located on Mainstreet Grimshaw.

Eat and Drink

If you are looking for a place to enjoy a winter activity après, a meal with family or friends, or a place to watch the hockey game, head over to the Krooked House on Mainstreet in Grimshaw.

This quaint pub has tons of character and is proud to carry several varieties of Alberta craft-brewed beer along with wine and cocktails to quench your thirst. Pizza, nachos, charcuterie and salads are some of the delicious items on the menu. In addition to the warm rustic atmosphere, guests can chill out in the lounge area in the back.
