This welcoming playground nestled amongst some beautiful large trees offers a space to enjoy a day of play. Climb, slide and run in this playground. The Little Tikes play equipment was installed in 2005 on a protective surface of pea gravel and offers activities to kids that are 2 to 5 years of age.

Pack up a picnic and head out to the Spruce Court Playground and plan on a fun and sunshine filled day of outdoor activity. The Little Tykes play equipment was installed in 2002 on a protective pea gravel surface, will appeal to children of 5 –12 years of age.

Race, leap, laugh and play at the Baldwin Court Playground. The Play World System installed in 2000 on a pea gravel base offers many appealing choices to kids of 5 to 12 years of age.

The Town of Peace River offers 17km of paved walking trails and 80.9 hectares of nicely mowed green space just waiting to be enjoyed. Grab your bike, run, jog or walk and enjoy these scenic and well-maintained areas. Summer months offer five fastball/slo-pitch diamonds, two baseball diamonds, two soccer pitches, two football fields, two tennis courts, 4 pickleball courts, 13 playgrounds, two larger parks (12 Foot Davis and Riverfront Park), as well as an off-leash dog park. The winter months offer an excellent opportunity to enjoy two sliding hills, five outdoor hockey rinks and two skating areas

Enjoy the winter season in the Peace Region. Grab some skates and head out to one of the six outdoor neighbourhood ice rinks that the Town of Peace River operates.

Launch a boat, canoe or kayak at this gravel boat launch on the Peace River at Many Islands Campground. Boating and paddling enthusiasts enjoying a Peace River adventure can launch here or stop in for a break at this beautiful riverside campground. This area, upriver from the Carter’s Camp boat launch, offers some stunning scenery of the river valley and the wildlife that call the area home. There are camp sites with fire pits, picnic tables, outhouses and camp kitchens for individuals or groups. The Many Islands Music Festival is held here every summer. A great weekend of music, dancing, wagon rides and much more. Many Islands Campground is 24km Southeast of Worsley off highway 64.

The Carter’s Camp boat launch is one of two camping areas in the Carter’s Camp site. The Montagneuse River empties into the Peace River between these two camping areas adding an interesting area for exploration by foot. The well gravelled boat launch at the down river camping area, offers access to the Peace River between the Many Islands boat launch and the Pratt’s Landing boat launch. Weary waterway explorers can find shelter here, the campground is well equipped with a camp kitchen, outhouses, fire pits, picnic tables and a playground. This is a beautiful and interesting area of the Peace River Valley, be sure to add it to your bucket list. Carters Camp can be found 25km west of Hines Creek on highway 685.

Launch your boat, canoe, kayak or paddle board into George Lake and get ready for a sun filled, water cooled day of fun with friends. Boats can be launched at the gravel launch located just before the campground area. There is also a dock for hand launching of lighter craft. The campground offers electrical hookups, outhouses, showers and a kitchen shelter for use by visitors. Take a break from the water and try out the playground, horseshoe pits and hiking trails. George Lake Music Festival takes place here each year. This event attracts many visitors who enjoy a weekend of camping and great live music. George Lake is a quick 4.5km drive South of Hines Creek on highway 64.

Ole’s Lake is a hidden gem in the Peace Region for water enthusiasts to enjoy. The boat launch, pier and hand launch give easy access to the lake. This calm, sparkling body of water is a great place for the entire family to swim, paddle board, kayak, canoe or play on the beach. Watch for wildlife that call this areahome. After a day in the water, relax and kick back in one of the secluded, well treed, lake side campsites available. Ole’s Lake is 93km Northwest of Hines Creek on highway 64.

Explorers canaccess Stoney Lake at a well-maintained gravel boat launch. Once on this calm clear lake, water lovers can begin a day of making memories with family and friends. The clean cool water provides opportunities to swim, paddle board, canoe or kayak. This is a stocked lake so be sure to bring fishing gear and hopefully catch your supper from the lake or from the pier. There is a user maintained, lakeside campground for water enthusiasts to enjoy, so choose a fire pit to cook up the day’s catch over an open fire. Stoney Lake Recreation Area is a scenic drive 50km North of Fairview or 20km North East of Hines Creek.

Launch your watercraft at the gravelled boat launch or use the hand launch for lighter craft. Power vessels are subject to a 12 km per hour speed limit. Calm clear water invites canoers, kayakers, paddle boarders and swimmers to enjoy a day here. This lake is aerated to ensure survival of fish stocks so don’t forget your fishing gear. No boat? No problem. Throw a line in from the pier. Prepare the day’s catch at the fish cleaning station and then enjoy a fresh caught meal at one of the campsites nestled along the shore of this pristine northern lake. Sites are un-serviced so be sure to bring your firewood and drinking water. Sulphur Lake is 30 km Northeast of Hines Creek.

Grab some fellow water enthusiasts and get ready to have an awesome summer day in beautiful Clear Hills County. Canoes, kayaks, paddle boards and swimmers can access Running Lake from the pier and non gas-powered boats can be launched from the gravelled boat launch area. Fishing is available, the day’s catch can be prepared at the fish cleaning station. After an active day of water activities kick back and relax at one of the well treed camping sites. Outdoor toilets, fire pits, picnic tables and picnic shelters are available. Running Lake is a scenic drive 8km East and 22km North of Worsley.

The Shaftesbury boat launch is located at the Shaftesbury ferry crossing approximately 29km southwest of the town of Peace River. Boaters can access the beautiful Peace River at this location on the well -maintained gravel launch. The Strong Creek Park boat launch and the Town of Peace River can be found down stream from this location. Head up the river and you will find the Peace Valley Guest Ranch and Peace River Cabins and Outdoors who welcome guests to stay at their riverside resorts. Explore a bit further up the river and you will see the Elk Island camping area, continue on to experience the awe-inspiring sight of the Dunvegan Bridge. Camping is available in the Shaftsbury area just across the river at Tangent Park.

The Lac Cardinal boat launch gives water lovers access to this calm and inviting northern lake.The launch is a well-maintained paved launch. The lake offers endless hours of activity –paddle boarding, canoeing and kayaking to name a few. Tubing, water skiing and wake boarding area is a great way to spend a sunny Peace Country day at this lake. Stay awhile at the camping area and check out the Lac Cardinal Pioneer Village Museum and the North Peace Rodeo grounds which are a short walk away. Located 8km northwest of the Town of Grimshaw on Township Road 833A off Highway 35.

Canoes, kayaks and river boats can access the river from the well-maintained gravel boat launch found at Pratt’s Landing campsite. Located along the Peace River downstream from Carter’s Camp boat launch and upstream from Dunvegan bridge, this is a great spot to start a day’s exploration on the river or take a break from a river adventure and stop in for a rest and a picnic. Care to stay longer in this beautiful spot? Choose from one of 15 overnight camping sites equipped with fire pits and picnic tables. Non-potable water, outdoor toilet facilities and firewood is also available for visitors. Pratt’s Landing can be found 32km west of Fairview on highway 682.

Dunvegan’s boat launch can be found on the south side of the Peace River, road access begins on the west side of the Dunvegan bridge entrance. Parking can be found just above the boat launch area. This well-maintained gravel boat launch is situated on a narrow spot of the river where the water runs deep. Head down river to Shaftsbury and the Town of Peace River or up river to Pratt’s Landing and beyond. A great way to explore the Peace region and the river valley. Stay a few days and visit Historic Dunvegan, Dunvegan Provincial Park, The Maples Park and Dunvegan Market Gardens which are conveniently located along the shore line of the north side of the river. The Dunvegan boat launch is located 26km South of Fairview.

Whether you’re beginning or ending your river journey or just stopping in for a rest and a picnic, the Town of Peace River offers two handy boat launches. The Lower West Peace Launch is found on the west side of the Peace River just off of Shaftesbury Trail in the lower west region of the town.  The launch typically has porta potties and a floating dock installed by the Peace River Boating Association. The North End Launch is located in the north end of town, on the east side of the river, just off of 84th Avenue. Both boat launches are gravel with some parking on site. Boaters enjoy a stunning view of the bridges and the town of Peace River as they move along this historic waterway.

Krooked House Ltd opened December 2020 after almost a year in planning. Krooked House is a small pub that is focused on selling Alberta craft brewed beer.
