The Fourth Creek Community Association maintains this multiuse area. The Fourth Creek Community Hall is a new beautifully designed venue available for rent for any event or celebration. Ten campsites are nearby offering power, camp tables, firepits and plenty of firewood. Campers can access a bathroom and a shower room located in the hall. A large recreation area with a playground is adjacent providing visitors with a spacious area for all sorts of fun activities.  The community association also hosts several annual events such as dances, suppers and barbeques to bring friends and neighbors together.

Looking for a thrilling aquatic experience? Discover the Savanna Splash Park at the Savanna Recreational Complex located northwest of Spirit River. To access this facility, take Highway 49 west of Spirit River for 27 km, turn north on Highway 725 and travel for 23 km then turn west on Highway 681 and travel 13 km to the recreation complex.  Engage in some active and imaginative play in the crystal clear waters of this professionally designed and newly installed water park. Dive into the world of endless sprays, splashes and joyful laughter as you explore this popular Saddle Hills County facility – open during the warm summer months of the Mighty Peace.

Load up your favorite sled or toboggan and head out to the Saddle Hills County Slopes toboggan hill. This is one of the Peace region’s best toboggan hills for a fast-paced, cold-weather adventure! Nothing says winter fun like gliding through a fresh blanket of pristine snow while feeling the fresh air nip at your cheeks as you race down the hill. This family friendly activity is the perfect way to get outside and enjoy the sunny winter days of the Mighty Peace! This sliding hill is located right behind the new Savanna water treatment plant and truck fill just north of Highway 681 approximately 2.5 km east of the Savanna School.  From Spirit River head west on Highway 49 for 27 km then north on Highway 725 for 23 km and then west on Highway 681 for 9 km. Bundle up, pack a picnic and get ready to experience an outdoor skate at the Jean Cote outdoor rink this winter. The Peace region is known for sunny winter days, offering the perfect setting for skaters and hockey enthusiasts to enjoy some active fun outside. The friendly community of Jean Cote can be found in the MD of Smoky River, approximately 45 km south of the Town of Peace River on Highway 744 and 2 km east on Township Rd 800.

The Municipal District of Smoky River is home to some of these fascinating and beautiful rock formations. Known as hoodoos, these formations tower high in the sky, and provide fantastic photo opportunities. The geological explanation for hoodoos is that they are the product of millions of years of erosion—in which a lower layer of soft rock wears away, leaving a top-heavy layer of harder rock protruding above the surrounding landscape. However, Alberta’s hoodoo legends are somewhat more entertaining, telling of ancient travellers witnessing the hoodoos reveal themselves to be wizards, offering a helping hand to lost explorers by pointing them in the right direction. These amazing wonders of nature are very remote and can be accessed only by helicopter or viewed from the Smoky River by river boat. Looking for some of the best views of the Little Smoky River valley? Breathtaking scenery abounds for visitors travelling down into the valley to the Blue Bridge campground. No wonder so many locals choose this scenic spot for their special occasion photoshoots! Explorers can also enjoy rustic camping, access to the river as well as some great OHV and sled trails here. The Blue Bridge campground can be reached from the Donnelly corner by travelling west on Highway 49 for approximately 13km and then turning south on Highway 744 and travelling approximately 17km to the campground area near the bridge. The Peace River Art Club is located in the town of Peace River, Alberta, a rural community of seven thousand, with a catchment area of twelve thousand.

The Peace River Art Club has always encouraged creativity through expression of art. Among our artists and artisans, there is a wealth of talent to be found in the Peace River valley and surrounding area and as such, we strive to provide services to the entire region. We are an inclusive community and welcome all ages and ability levels.

The Peace River Art Club offers a variety of art classes and hosts multiple shows per year at the Peace River ART HUB, showcasing many of the community and area artists’ masterpieces.

The Peace River Art Hub is a vibrant space where local artists gather, showcase their talents, and bring the community together through art. Whether you’re an artist or an art lover, come explore the inspiring exhibitions, workshops, and events that make the hub a cornerstone of culture in the Mighty Peace Region!

Bonanza Ag Society 

With a group of dedicated community members, the Bonanza Ag Society is committed to creating local events and opportunities for residents in their area. This active society runs the Bonanza Bowling Centre, which is open from October to March each year, where they host plenty of private rentals, birthday parties, league bowling and after school bowling. On top of that, this society has a community hall that they frequently rent out for weddings, reunions, banquets, parties, workshops, and so much more. 

This Ag Society is also responsible for hosting the annual Bonanza Fair and Mud Bog, which is a spectacular two-day event that draws people from all over the region. With a focus on agriculture and community involvement, the Bonanza and District Ag Society is an incredible asset to their local residents. 

If you’re looking for the perfect location to launch your boat, catch up with friends or even a spot to appreciate the beautiful views of the Peace River, then the Lower West Peace boat launch is for you. 

Located just off Shaftesbury Trail, this area is often equipped with porta potties and has an expansive dock jutting out into the river. You’ll be able to enjoy endless summer days here, whether you’re on the river or out for a hike to see the sights.  Not only does the large dock have built in benches to relax on, but it also has enough space to dock multiple boats while you visit with new and old acquaintances. 

This boat launch is maintained by the Peace River Boating Association.

The first Falher Church at the St. Jean-Baptiste Mission is now a Registered Historical Site. It was restored to its original appearance and is open for public viewing.

St. Jean Baptiste Roman Catholic Mission Church is a two and one half-storey finished log building situated on approximately 64 hectares of land roughly 4 kilometres southeast of Falher. The church features full dovetail notching, a gable roof, and a small cupola crowned with a cross.

Directions: Head towards AB-49 E, once on the highway turn right onto Range Road 213.

With over 6,000 artifacts, Girouxville’s Museum showcases the interesting history of the pioneers and missionaries who settled in the region. Visitors can browse artifacts that depict the natural history, fur trade, transportation, hunting, education and so much more from the area’s past.

Hours of operation: Monday to Friday 10am – 4pm during the summer months. Appointments can be made during the off season. 

Directions: Turn left onto Highway 49, then after 20km turn left onto Highway 744 and after 3.5km the destination is on your right.

Located in the north end of town, just off 84^th Avenue, this boat launch is gravelled and has room available for parking. Conveniently located near the Peace River bridges, boaters will be able to enjoy a fantastic view while launching or docking here. 

Directly across the river from this launch are spectacular cliffs along the riverbank that are a favourite among many boaters and are worth seeing up close. Start your river adventures here and see why the Mighty Peace is a favourite for all!

The Rim Rock Formations, south of Bay Tree, provide stunning views of the County from a ridge that was once the mouth of a trench under the ocean. Nestled deep in the forest, you can find prehistoric fossils alongside the iconic views.

Getting to the Rim Rocks

From BC: The Rim Rocks can be found by heading east on Township Road 784 from Highway 49, just over the BC border. Drive approximately 2 km, before turning left on Range Road 134. Continue on the road for approximately 6 km until the road curves to the left and becomes an oilfield road. Stay on this route, keeping to the left at the two major forks in the road. The trailhead begins at the cutline where the road used to end.

The forested path is easy to follow and, after approximately 3 km, you should see a slightly smaller path heading off to the left. Follow this for around 2 minutes to reach the Rim Rocks.

Located in the picturesque hamlet of St. Isidore are the St. Isidore walking trails. These family friendly trails cover roughly 3 kilometers and provide locals and visitors with a way to get outdoors, get some fresh air and enjoy the scenery.

Start at the St. Isidore Cultural Centre and wind your way through the nearby forests. These paved trails are ideal for all ages and can even accommodate strollers for the youngest adventurers. Found along the trails are geocaches that provide an exciting way to experience the area and amp up the fun. 

With many scenic views and towering trees, you will be able to feel at ease and even catch a glimpse of the many birds and squirrels that live in the treetops. Perfect for those days when you’re craving some time outdoors, these trails are a must visit during any season.  

Sweet summer memories are waiting to be made at the Grimshaw Splash Park! Little ones will have hours of fun experiencing water features including the geysers, the split spirts, the misty twisty and many more exciting and interactive elements. This is a fantastic opportunity for some play-based, outdoors learning. Located on the south side of the swimming pool, this is an awesome community area to be active and have fun with the whole family! A nearby gazebo offers a great place to enjoy a snack and relax in the shade.

Established in 2018, the Fairview Farmers’ Market runs throughout the year with regular season hours being from July 3 to September 25 each Wednesday from 3:30 to 6:30PM at the Fairview Legion. Special markets are held in March, May, June, August, November, and December. This passport entitles the season pass holder to 1 complimentary lift pass at each of the participating skills. The ski area will stamp your passport to indicate redemption. Return your completed passport, with stamps from all six ski areas to be entered into a draw at the end of the season. The passport is valid only during the season of purchase. A complimentary pass exclusion of liability waiver must be signed by an adult for each ski area at the time of redemption.

Located in the Northern Boreal of the Woodland Cree First Nation, Sawn Lake is ideal for those who enjoy quadding or snowmobiling in dense forests and fishing in natural settings. With unserviced camping areas to stay at, fishermen and visitors can try their hand at catching Northern Pike in both summer and winter months, or quad and sled the trails nearby.
