Located southwest of Woking, the Hilltop Lake Campground is a great getaway from city life. Hilltop Lake Campground is the smallest of Saddle Hills County campgrounds but one of the most unique, with 10 back-in camping stalls. It is located in a secluded forest setting, with ATV friendly trails. The small lake is ideal for canoeing, kayaking, and paddle boarding.

Campsite reservations can be made online using the Camp Reservations Canada portal (campreservations.ca) which will require a standard camping fee of $25/night.

Located at 9702 98 Street in the Town of Peace River, Sagitawa Friendship Centre is a place where all people are welcome. Using Indigenous knowledge as a foundation, Sagitawa Friendship Society offers a warm welcoming place for visitors as well as a variety of programming and services for the community. These programs range from prenatal care to child and youth services to elder support and everything in between. The Friendship Centre also hosts a variety of community events throughout the year, runs a youth employment program out of Golf World – Peace River Mini Golf, and showcases Indigenous art and crafts available to purchase in their Hide n’ Seek Handicraft Store.

Located at 9803 101 Ave, this imaginative 18-hole mini golf course is the perfect place to beat the heat this summer! Open from May to September, Golf World hosts fun, family friendly events throughout the summer, and offers a variety of delicious hand scooped ice creams for purchase. This is a true mini golf gem tucked away in downtown Peace River that offers a fun, exciting, and challenging experience. Check out their Facebook page for hours of operation.

A refreshing dip in the Falher outdoor swimming pool is a great way to enjoy the long, warm summer days of the Mighty Peace region. Located at #129 Central Avenue S.E. in the friendly town of Falher, this pool opens the May long weekend and operates until about the third week in August. This fresh air facility provides excellent bi-lingual swimming lessons and recreational activities for the enjoyment of young and old. The pool is home to the Smoky River Manatees Swim Club, an excellent way for youth to keep fit, improve swimming skills and have fun. Pool rentals are available for birthday parties and other functions. Life is cool by the pool!

What better way to enjoy one of the Peace Country’s long summer days than a dip in the Grimshaw outdoor pool! This pool is 25m long by 110m wide and offers lots of space foreveryone to enjoy the water. Depth runs from 3m in the deep end to .9m in the shallow end so everyone from beginners to seasoned lane swimmers can swim at their own comfort level. During scheduled lane swim times there are 5 lanes available, each 2.13m wide. The Grimshaw Gators Swim Club operates out of this facility and holds a swim meet each summer. Set up a comfortable spot on the available bleachers to cheer on your favorite swimmer! This pool opens the May long weekend and is open for swimmers until about the 3rd week of August. This facility offers early bird, public and family swim times as well as Red Cross swim lessons.The Grimshaw outdoor pool is located at 4609 50th St. in Grimshaw. Looking for a great place to play some court sports? Falher has a handy space available for activities like pickle ball and basket ball. This multi-season facility is a curling rink during winter months and then is transformed with the installation of a removable gym floor to a fieldhouse for the summer. Available for use from April 1^st to the end of September this is a great space to keep fit and have fun!

Access the Smoky River from this gravel boat launch with lots of parking space. This beautiful river can be enjoyed by river boaters, paddlers and anyone looking for great fishing spots. Walleye, burbot, whitefish, northern pike and trout are said to call this river home. Many trails and wildlife viewing areas can be found along this picturesque northern river. This boat launch is located on the south side of the Smoky River near the Smoky River Bridge, just across the river from the friendly community of Watino. The Smoky River Bridge is part of Highway 49 and is a scenic 70 km drive east of  Rycroft or a short 30 km drive west of Falher.

Peace River is a community brimming with recreation opportunities. Among the many options are more than 17km of public trails that run through this beautiful community, connecting the many green spaces, parks, playgrounds, sites of interest and friendly neighbourhoods. Peace River’s new bridge built in 2021, has a  pedestrian walkway built underneath that spans the entire majestic Peace River. This walkway connects pedestrians to neighborhoods on both the east and west side of the river while providing unique views of the river, town and valley not otherwise seen from land. The town’s well maintained trail system is accessible to all and is also available during the winter months for residents and visitors to keep active and enjoy beauty of the Peace River valley.

Looking for a great space to enjoy a getaway? Kakut Lake is the perfect spot for friends and family to get together and make some amazing memories! Well maintained amenities and a playground make this a family friendly site that will keep campers of all ages comfortable and entertained. Set up your home away from home in one of the 24 powered and spacious campsites, water is available to purchase and firewood is free. There are flush toilets and showers as well as a cookshack with a wood stove available to guests. This calm and beautiful lake is ideal for kayakers, canoers, and paddle boarders to enjoy some fun on the water. The lake is stocked with rainbow trout each spring providing some great year-round fishing. If you’re looking for the perfect venue for a special event, consider booking the beautiful log hall that can accommodate up to 75 people. The surrounding grounds have been planted with various fruit trees and provide abundant and picturesque spaces for activities and fun.   Entertaining events hosted here each year include a fishing derby and a music festival. This is also a great spot to visit in the winter months to enjoy some ice fishing. Firepits are available near the lake to warm up and cook a tasty campfire snack! 

Kakut Lake is located in beautiful Birch Hills County, southwest of Wanham. Head south from Wanham on Highway 733 for 14km then turn west onto Highway 677 and travel 9km and then turn north onto Range Road 42A.

Dreamers Lake Campground, located 3.2km west of Wanham on Highway 49 and then 3.9km south on Range Road 35, is a great place to enjoy nature at it’s best. 24 powered and unpowered sites offer a great selection of spots for visitors to enjoy beautiful lake views. Water, a sanitation station and fire wood are all available for purchase. Showers and bathrooms are also conveniently located for campers. The long summer days and spacious areas of the Mighty Peace are a great place to make some amazing memories. Families and friends can enjoy the gazebo, playground and horseshoe pits all day long and paddlers often see a great selection of wild birds and animals while enjoying the calm waters of this pristine lake.  This is a great staging area for explorers to set up camp and access the trail system that is nearby.

Dreamers Lake Campground is open from May until October.

The Tangent Trails run along the southeast riverbank of the Peace River from the Tangent Park campground all the way to where the Smoky River meets the mighty Peace. Approximately 40km of scenic trails take adventurers through beautifully treed as well as open meadow sections of the slopes of the Peace River valley. Only 24 km south of Peace River the Tangent Park Campground offers full hook ups, kitchen shelter, group picnic area, group camping area, tenting area, horse watering stations, concession, showers, hiking trails, horseshoes, playground, and fishing. This campground is the perfect staging area for trail users to stay and enjoy the area. Tangent Park can be accessed via the Shaftsbury Trail (Highway 684) and a free ride on the Shaftsbury ferry or via Highway 740 running north from the Hamlet of Tangent.

Located at 636 8^th St. in the friendly Village of Hines Creek, the Rodney Bjornson Fitness Centre is named in memory of a dedicated member of the village’s Fitness Centre Board. This facility is a great place to find inner and outer strength while improving your overall physical and mental well being. This is a self accessed gym open from 5am to 11pm seven days a week, fob memberships can be purchased at the Village office at 212 10^th St.  During the winter, the fitness centre is home to a free senior’s walking program every Monday and Wednesday from 9:30am to 10:30am. The walking track that surrounds the gym area is a great place to walk, jog or run all year long.

The Shell True North pond is stocked annually with brook trout to create recreational opportunities for visitors and residents alike. This day use site is located approximately 30 km west of Spirit River on Highway 49 and then at TWP Rd. 791 continue to travel north on Highway 49 for approximately 400 m then turn west into the approach and immediately north to the pond.  After parking near the eastern shore of the lake, the area can be accessed by foot. No open fires please.  Watch closely for many types of wildlife that are abundant in this area. Black bear, coyotes, elk, moose, deer and a multitude of birds call this beautiful area home.

The Fourth Creek Community Association maintains this multiuse area. The Fourth Creek Community Hall is a new beautifully designed venue available for rent for any event or celebration. Ten campsites are nearby offering power, camp tables, firepits and plenty of firewood. Campers can access a bathroom and a shower room located in the hall. A large recreation area with a playground is adjacent providing visitors with a spacious area for all sorts of fun activities.  The community association also hosts several annual events such as dances, suppers and barbeques to bring friends and neighbors together.

Looking for a thrilling aquatic experience? Discover the Savanna Splash Park at the Savanna Recreational Complex located northwest of Spirit River. To access this facility, take Highway 49 west of Spirit River for 27 km, turn north on Highway 725 and travel for 23 km then turn west on Highway 681 and travel 13 km to the recreation complex.  Engage in some active and imaginative play in the crystal clear waters of this professionally designed and newly installed water park. Dive into the world of endless sprays, splashes and joyful laughter as you explore this popular Saddle Hills County facility – open during the warm summer months of the Mighty Peace.

Load up your favorite sled or toboggan and head out to the Saddle Hills County Slopes toboggan hill. This is one of the Peace region’s best toboggan hills for a fast-paced, cold-weather adventure! Nothing says winter fun like gliding through a fresh blanket of pristine snow while feeling the fresh air nip at your cheeks as you race down the hill. This family friendly activity is the perfect way to get outside and enjoy the sunny winter days of the Mighty Peace! Bundle up, pack a picnic and get ready to experience an outdoor skate at the Jean Cote outdoor rink this winter. The Peace region is known for sunny winter days, offering the perfect setting for skaters and hockey enthusiasts to enjoy some active fun outside. The friendly community of Jean Cote can be found in the MD of Smoky River, approximately 45 km south of the Town of Peace River on Highway 744 and 2 km east on Township Rd 800.
