Overlooking the Peace River valley from the west bank these diamonds are a unique place to play baseball. The Town of Peace River has a lively sports community with many community facilities that are not limited to locals. Keep the athletes in your family happy and plan a day of fun down at the Ken Horneland Memorial Ball Diamonds. There is a cluster of four diamonds that offer a great space for tournaments, with easy highway access and amenities nearby. The diamonds are impeccably maintained with lush grass. The grassed areas surrounding the diamonds are great for family picnics and strolling while enjoying the sunshine.

Harmon Valley Park offers an incredible night sky with virtually no light pollution. If you are a star gazer this is an amazing campground with the possibility of experiencing the northern lights. This campground features 17 unserviced campsites, free fire wood, pump water, pit toilets, hiking trails, children’s playground, picnic shelter, cook shack, and horseshoe pits. This campground offers a fully treed setting offering privacy for your vacation. Don’t worry about breaking the bank because this beautiful campground is only $10/night.

Try out the custom built Curtis Marshall Memorial Skate Park in the Town of Peace River. The park is located on the west side of 101 Street, between 101 Avenue and 102 Avenue in the Town of Peace River. The park features unique obstacles with lots of transition that gives this park a variety of features that is suitable for everyone’s skill level. The park is free and open to any skateboarders, BMX riders, push scooters and inline skaters. 

This camping and recreation area, is a true hidden gem just north of the Town of Fairview.  This beautiful recreation area is quiet and cozy, and features a small lake as well as group and individual camping spots tucked into a lush forested area.  Keep everyone entertained with a variety of activities available in the area.  Canoe, kayak or paddle board on the lake and watch for the many species of birds that also enjoy the water!   Walk, jog or run on the 11km of trails that connect the area with the Town of Fairview as well as the Fairview Golf Course. Watch for wildlife that is often spotted near the trail!  There are horse shoe pits and a play ground available for visitors as well.  During your stay take a stroll over to the Fairview Pioneer Museum that is adjacent to the campground and learn about the early settlers of the area.   The area also features ball diamonds and soccer fields.  After a busy day of fun, relax around a cozy campfire and enjoy a spectacular Peace Country sunset!

Searching for a back to nature experience?

Head out to the Wilderness Park located approximately 11km west of Peace River; the path into the area is as beautiful as the park itself! This day use area has picnic tables, fire pits, outhouses and man-made ponds to enjoy! Swimming is not allowed but fishing enthusiasts bring your fishing rods as the ponds are stocked with rainbow trout and grayling! There are docks to fish from and to launch your canoe, kayak or paddle board. Hiking trails abound in the area, part of which include the Trans Canada Trail! Bring your binoculars and enjoy some bird watching, this area is abundant with wildlife. A crackling campfire is the perfect end to a day of fun at Wilderness Park! Please reduce visitor’s impact on the park by taking your garbage home with you. Park closes at 11pm.

Tucked along the banks of the Peace River in the MD of Peace, Strong Creek Campground is a year-round escape for outdoor lovers. Located just 8 km south of Peace River on the scenic Shaftesbury Trail, this rustic campground offers an affordable stay at only $20 per night. Enjoy the convenience of washrooms, potable water, and a sheltered kitchen while still feeling close to nature.

In summer, spend your days soaking up the sun, paddling, or casting a line in the Peace River—just a short stroll from your campsite. The park also features picnic tables, a playground for the kids, and hiking trails that wind through the area’s natural beauty.

When winter arrives, Strong Creek transforms into a snowy retreat perfect for snowshoeing and crisp winter hikes. The playground remains a family favourite year-round, and firepits invite you to gather for cozy outdoor picnics.

Figure Eight Lake Provincial Recreation Area is located 40 kilometers northwest of Peace River on Highway 737 in the County of Northern Lights. Figure Eight Lake takes its name from the shape it had before 1970 when the water level was low, in these earlier days the lake had two basins and resembled a figure eight.

The Town of Peace River offers 17km of paved walking trails and 80.9 hectares of nicely mowed green space just waiting to be enjoyed. Grab your bike, run, jog or walk and enjoy these scenic and well-maintained areas. Summer months offer five fastball/slo-pitch diamonds, two baseball diamonds, two soccer pitches, two football fields, two tennis courts, 4 pickleball courts, 13 playgrounds, two larger parks (12 Foot Davis and Riverfront Park), as well as an off-leash dog park. The winter months offer an excellent opportunity to enjoy two sliding hills, five outdoor hockey rinks and two skating areas

Enjoy beautiful Lac Cardinal while camping in the Lac Cardinal Recreation Area. This area is located adjacent to the Queen Elizabeth Provincial Park on the eastern shore of Lac cardinal. Drive 5 miles northwest of the Town of Grimshaw on Township Road 833A off Highway 35 to reach this 16 site campground. Enjoy fire pits, playground and a camp kitchen. No hookups or showers available.

This is a really great location to enjoy many activities! The lake offers endless hours of activity – paddle boarding, canoeing and kayaking to name a few! There is a nearby boat launch for those wishing to enjoy tubing or water skiing. The Lac Cardinal Pioneer Village Museum as well as the rodeo grounds can easily be accessed on foot from the campground. The North Peace Stampede is held at these rodeo grounds each summer!

There is a large hall available to rent from the municipality – great for family reunions or any function!

Pack up a picnic and head out to the Spruce Court Playground and plan on a fun and sunshine filled day of outdoor activity. The Little Tykes play equipment was installed in 2002 on a protective pea gravel surface, will appeal to children of 5 –12 years of age.

This welcoming playground nestled amongst some beautiful large trees offers a space to enjoy a day of play. Climb, slide and run in this playground. The Little Tikes play equipment was installed in 2005 on a protective surface of pea gravel and offers activities to kids that are 2 to 5 years of age.

Lots of trees, open space and fresh air are ready for visitors to enjoy at the Kinsmen Funland Playground. The Blue Imp play equipment was installed in 2013 on a protective surface of pea graveland offers a variety of play choices for kids ages 2 to 12 years.

A great day of fun is in store for visitors to the Spray Park and playground. Bring a swim suit, towel and a picnic. After an awesome play on the Little Tikes play equipment, cool off in the spray park. Re-energize with a snack and do it all over again.

Climbing is the name of the game at this playground. The Xccent Play Large Cayton climber unit structure was installed in 2012 on a protective sand surface. Enjoy the beautiful view here on one of the handy benches or bring a picnic and stay a while.

This playground nestled in a cozy neighborhood setting will encourage neighbors and friends to enjoy the Romperland, Big Toys and Kompan play equipment. Built in 2005 on a pea gravel base, this playground has plenty of space to play games, run and even have a picnic. Children ages 2 –12 year of age will enjoy an outing to this inviting neighborhood park.

Slide, swing, climb and run. This park has something to offer for a variety of ages. The Little Tikes equipment, built on a pea gravel base, will keep youngsters busy for hours. Lots of space for games and picnics.

This large, two-part playground offers many choices of activities. Swing, jump, climb, dig and run to your hearts content. The Henderson play equipment, built in 2018, sits atop washed pea gravel. The junior play structure accommodates visitors of 18 months to 5 years. The senior play structure offers activities to impress the 5 to 12-yearolds. Check out the view and savor a picnic here at this park, there is plenty space to enjoy.

Mill Brown Park is located in the Village of Nampa. The Village of Nampa is a quaint little town that is home to almost 400 of the friendliest Albertans. The park is walking distance to a restaurant called Farmers Restaurant. This restaurant has a very unique dining experience with delicious Canadian inspired food. The Nampa and District Museum is walking distance as well. At the Museum you can explore the legendary Mighty Peace, from the fur trade to modern times, through the exhibits at the museum.

Mill Brown Park has 6 paved stalls, power hookups, water supply, playground, tennis court, ball diamonds, hiking trails to the Heart River and a RV Dump.
